A wedding day is of course a very special day for the bride and groom but it is also celebration of the traditions and customs involved in the union of two people. Many of the rituals involved in a modern wedding date back 100s of years, from the exchanging of rings and vows to the cutting of the cake at the reception. While these customs have changed little over the years many couples may want to express their own characters for what is a unique day to them and the choice and design of wedding cake offers an opportunity to do just that.

Many couples may prefer the traditional appeal of the classic white tiered wedding cake, finely adorned with ribbons and edible flowers, not forgetting the ornamental bride and groom who stand proudly atop the cake. This traditional style of wedding cake dates back to Victorian times, a time when Singapore became defined as the city it is today. The concept of a tiered cake dates much further back than that however and represents a time when guests would bring a cake and pile them on top of each other. If the bride and groom could kiss over the height of the cake they would have a long and happy married life.

This sense of fun to be had with the wedding cake is very much a part of the celebrations which in addition to providing an opportunity to thank guests for coming allows them to offer their congratulations in return and for everyone to feel comfortable and have some fun after the more formal aspects of the wedding ceremony. The wedding cake then can be a light hearted expression of individuality and still retain all the sense of custom and tradition.

The skills of head chef Judy Koh and her team are put to the test in developing a full range of styles and designs for cakes suitable for many private functions and parties and no more so than for the most stylish and unique weddings. It is customary to present guests with a slice of the cake to enjoy or take home for a keepsake. A cake of tiered cupcakes is ideal for this purpose and can be created with between 20 and 100 individually adorned cupcakes that can be customized to the couples' liking. For those who would rather have the more traditional tiered cakes these are readily available too and cost from just $100 to $1200 and upwards.
